Created on World Intellectual Property Day (April 26th 2012) the international association IUMCM (International Union of Modern and Contemporary Masters) was officially registered in Paris on June 23rd 2012. The IUMCM aims at bringing together all organized right holders of major modern and contemporary artists.

It was created by five founding members: the Alberto and Annette Giacometti Foundation, the Picasso Estate, Yves Klein Archives, the Le Corbusier Foundation and the Hartung Bergman Foundation.

The IUMCM will make the artists’ voices heard, while fostering collaboration between public authorities, institutions and the art market in order to protect cultural heritage for future generations, to promote respect for artists and their creation, to educate the public and collectors and to defend them against fraud and counterfeiting.

The work and names of famous artists enjoy today an international recognition. The art market is globalized. The IUMCM therefore promotes a European and international approach to obtain the harmonization of the legal protection against the circulation of counterfeit works of art.
